Disney v. State of Florida

The State of Florida, led by its Governor, Ron DeSantis is in a bare-knuckles brawl with Disney Inc.

In the latest bout, the Florida legislature introduced a bill that would limit the control that Disney is able to exert through the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a special government entity that oversees the area that has been managed by the company for over 50 years and is home to Disney World.

Reedy Creek administration provides municipal services such as water, sewage, and emergency services under the total control by Disney, including eminent domain (the ability to requisition private property).

Too Woke Costs Disney

The new legislation would fix the boundaries of the District preventing land grabs. It also removes a provision which allowed Disney to build a nuclear fission power plant, open an airport, or build convention halls at its whim.

The District is going to be renamed to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.

It appears that Disney is losing its unique business status as the Florida Governor and Legislature 'unwoke' the Mouse.
