Hottest Hollywood Event of the Season

A gala event was held last week by the Hollywood glitterati for Airbnb.org, the non-profit arm of Airbnb.

Airbnb.org offers free, temporary housing to people in need, funded by taking a portion of every Airbnb rental, which totals over $100 million per year. Funding goes to disaster response, families traveling for medical care, and abused women and children.

Rooney Mara, Joaquin Phoenix, Brian Chesky and Carly Helfrish

"We wanted to have a celebration. One that would really get the word out about what Airbnb.org does", said Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky. "And having a big night with movie stars, as guests, fulfilled that goal."

The guest list included Charlize Theron, Zoe Saldana, Joaquin Phoenix, Jessica Alba, etc., who spent the evening mingling with non-star guests to discuss the need for Airbnb.org.

Apple iPhone Duo Good News for Hollywood

Apple iPhone Duo large folding screen

I don't normally endorse products in the CMG blog, but the Apple Duo is an exception, as it may be the best thing to happen to movie viewing in a long time.

Vertical video has grown exponentially over the last five years. Short-form content and microdramas have proliferated.

The Duo flips the narrative on vertical content viewing.  The device presents vertical content very well on its 5.4 inch screen, but unfolded, the screen reveals a 7.5 wide display!

The Duo can run two apps simultaneously, providing unlimited choice in viewing. If flipped over, like a tent, it forms its own stand while providing viewing of half of the full screen.

For first-run films, on a pay-per-view basis, the Duo provides users full access to films on a large, vertical handheld. The Duo starts at $1,999, but for those on the go, it provides an unparalleled viewing option.
