The off-Broadway Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City was purchased in 2023 by the indie-film company A24 for $10 million - it is now ready to open after extensive renovations.
The Cherry Lane is over 100 years old, and the plan is to offer film screenings, live plays, and comedy. It will have its grand opening on September 14th. The opening will feature an event entitled, "Sundays with Sofia", a film series hosted by Sofia Coppola.
The 167 seat Cherry Lane will include artist-led productions, emerging talent presentations, stage readings, and standup comedy. It will also have a bar/restaurant, on premises called the Wild Cherry.
Cherry Lane Theatre is located at 38 Commerce St. just west of Greenwich Village. We wish A24 all the best.
