Who Was John Candy

 A documentary on the comedian John Candy, entitled "John Candy: I Like Me" will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 4th.'


Directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Ryan Reynolds, the film follows the life of Candy, a Toronto-born comedian, who rose to fame on the show 'Second City TV'. He starred in a number of very successful films, including 'Spaceballs', 'Uncle Buck". 'Planes, Trains, and Automobiles', and 'Little Shop of Horrors'.  John Candy died of a heart-attack in 1994 at the age of 43.

The film presents a true depiction of Candy's life on and off the camera - featuring home videos and uncut interviews. According to Colin Hanks, this documentary is "the story of a son, husband, father, and friend, a professional driven to bring joy to audiences and loved ones which battling personal ghosts and Hollywood pressures."
